The world is wasting about a billion tons of banana stems each year, Löft uses some of the stems to make this amazing eco-friendly textile.
This is the 3. edition of our very popular handwoven ring sling- Shiva, named after the weaver who made the first sample. This version is softer than previously, and we have added some lovely fringes.
Shiva Wild Forest carries all the different shades of the forest. The dark moss, the green leaves, the black soil and the grey bark.
The banana fiber is strong, soft and lightweight, almost feels like wool. When mixed with cotton, it creates a very supportive ring sling with a good grip.
It is strong and perfect for bigger babies and toddlers.
The banana has a wild and uneven structure with lots of nubs, irregularities and curls that looks like pulls. This creates a raw and cool look, very different from all other fibers. No threads are endless, you can see the thread shift by the edges. Sometimes the banana structure changes, and it will gain a striped structure. Every sling is different and unique.

A Löft product is made by humans, not machines. No hands are perfect and no threads are endless, so there might be visible thread shifts, small knots and other irregularities. This is the beauty of a handwoven product. Every piece is unique.
To limit the use of plastic and unnecessary packing, your ring sling/wrap will come in an handwoven organic drawstring bag. When you wear your baby on the front, you can carry diapers and food in the drawstring on the back.
When your carrying days are over, we recommend that you pass on the ring sling/wrap to other parents or make it into your favorite scarf, embracing all the memories of you carrying your baby.
